30th Celebration

What does the team at Exceed have in common with Panera Bread, Princess Bride and Windows 2.0? We are all celebrating 30 years in 2017! We couldn’t have hit this milestone without our customers. To celebrate, we are offering 30% off everything in-stock for the whole month of November!*

Quality, Accuracy and Integrity have been the core of our business from the beginning. Haig and Hawley have built their reputation with these values, which in turn has built trust with the community. Haig recently sat down to reflect on doing business for 30 years.

Q. What is your favorite thing about coming into work every day?

A. Having the ability to relish every work day. I embrace the challenges and the camaraderie with staff and clients.

Q. Is your answer different than it would have been 30 years ago? Why?

A. 30 years ago the motivation was survival. That hasn’t changed, but we’re in a more comfortable setting. This allows us to explore and afford cutting-edge products, techniques, and expand our offerings. 30 years ago we basically sold carpet remnants. Today our most popular product lines are hard surface offerings.

Q. If you could go back 30 years and give yourself advice what would it be?

A. Relax and have a little fun at work. Easier said than done 30 years ago. I feel our success has to do with really listening to our clients and their needs. The flooring market has significantly changed in 30 years. The retail market, brick and mortar and the internet have all had a profound effect on how business is conducted. The only thing constant in life is change. If we are doing the same thing we did a year ago, we’re probably doing it wrong.

Q. What does the next 30 years have in store for the business?

A. I don’t have a crystal ball. If I did I would be on an island nursing an umbrella drink. I think the pendulum will swing back from the internet to brick and mortar. People still love the shopping experience provided the shopping experience is pleasurable. There are no warm and fuzzies shopping online. Retailers will need to step up their game to provide a memorable retail experience. Training of skilled trades is a huge dilemma in manufacturing and housing. I’ll avoid the details, but as a society, we need to embrace the trades as a valuable asset to the workforce.

Whether you’ve been with us for the long haul, or simply love to follow along with the fun, we thank you for your support! Make sure to stop by the store this month to take advantage of the 30th all in-stock merchandise!
