Furniture and wall color may jump to the top of mind when considering how to make a statement in your home or office design, but flooring can make a considerable visual impact. One of our designers, Paige Howard, believes that, “flooring is the base of all designs. If the floor isn’t right, it can throw off the whole aesthetic.” She was even chosen as one of three designers nation-wide to be featured in Floor Covering Weekly, a publication that has been reporting on the flooring and design industry for 60 years.
The Floor Covering Weekly article features Paige’s design for a herringbone pattern office floor using three colors (Warm Oak, Sienna and Native Koa) from the Karndean’s Knight Tile series. The bold pattern creates a wow factor that lights up the whole space.

Herringbone floor patterns are timeless. They create an interesting detail in the room, drawing the eye to the floor and ultimately elevating the aesthetic atmosphere and sophistication of the interior design. The herringbone pattern is created with planks cut at a 90 degree angle, pieced together to create a staggered, zig-zag pattern. This adds extra richness, color and depth to the pattern.
Similar looks can be achieved with chevron and parquet patterns. Chevron flooring also creates a zigzag style pattern, but pieces are cut at a 45 degree angle, coming to a point at the top of each zigzag. Parquet is more of a general term for wood mosaic and geometric designs, you may see a large variety here incorporating squares and other shapes.
What do you think of this wow floor pattern? We are certainly fans!
